Malignant Mesothelioma Synopsis
The human race has seen many a challenges. On many an occasions it has happened that the challenges were overwhelming and very much daunting. But the human spirit of survival and success saw them overcoming every major impediment that came its way. This is true for any field that one can think of. Be it the field of sciences, arts, or commerce, the human spirit of achievement and creation has always triumphed over any kind of adversity. A similar effort is required now in the face of the adversary known as mesothelioma.
Malignant mesothelioma is one disease that has befuddled the medical community as well as the general populace alike. It is a disease that is threatening to meander beyond control and in its wake take a heavy toll of human lives. The malignant mesothelioma is the cancer of the mesothelium which is the protective sac around majority of the internal organs of the human body. The main cause of the mesothelioma is the exposure to a mineral known as asbestos. The asbestos fibers and dust are very small in size. As a result once they get lodged inside the mesothelial membrane it becomes difficult for the body to get rid of them. The asbestos fibers remain dormant for some 30-40 years and after that they start interfering with the functioning of the mesothelial cells. This leads to the development of cancerous tissues inside the mesothelial.
The reason why this disease is a major cause of concern is the latency period as well as the similarity of the symptoms with other more common diseases. As a result the prognosis of this disease is always negative.
The time has come when all the state governments, and the other concerned authorities sit up and take notice of the dangers posed by the asbestos to the society. The production and use of asbestos should be completely banned in all the countries.
