There are only a few things in this world that a man lives for. Health is one of them. Take care of your health and your life will be taken care of.

Humanity has faced many a challenges and overcome them. Let’s roll up our sleeves once more.

Knowledge they say is power. We never needed it the way we do it now.

Malignant Mesothelioma Types

There are mainly three forms of mesothelioma that have a higher incidence in comparison to others. Mesothelioma is the cancer of the membrane known as mesothelium that forms a protective membrane around majority of the human body organs. This membrane has different names depending upon the internal organ that it is protecting. For instance the membrane surrounding the lung region is know as the pleural membrane, whereas the membrane surrounding the heart region is known as the pericardial membrane, and the membrane surrounding the abdominal region is known as peritoneal membrane. The three major types of mesothelioma are the pleural mesothelioma, the pericardial mesothelioma, and the peritoneal mesothelioma.

Pleural mesothelioma: Pleural meosthelioma occurs when the asbestos particles enter the lungs or the chest cavity and get lodged in there. They remain dormant for a long period of time after which they start interfering with the normal functioning of the pleural cells. This leads to an unregulated growth of the pleural cells that lead to the development of the cancerous tissues.

Pericardial Mesothelioma: Pericardial mesothelioma is the cancer of the pericardial region. The way in which the asbestos particles manage to reach the pericardial region is still debatable. According to one hypothesis the asbestos particle are directly ingested into the pericardial region. Another hypothesis states that the asbestos particles travel from the lung region to the heart region and finally into the pericardial region. Again they remain dormant for a very long time and after that start interfering with the functioning of the mesothelial cells. This leads to the formation of cancerous tissues in the pericardial region.

Peritoneal Mesothelioma: Peritoneal mesothelioma is the cancer of the mesothelium protecting the abdominal region. Again the manner in which the asbestos particles reach the peritoneal region is debatable. The asbestos particles can be directly ingested into the peritoneal region or they might be transferred into the peritoneal region through the lymphatic action. Once inside the mesothelium they interfere with the functioning of the mesothelial cells leading to the formation of the cancerous tissues.
